Tanauan, Leyte - The students from the two Tanauan High Schools paid a courtesy call on Mayor Roque Tiu and brought the good news that the Tanauan School of Craftsmanship and Home Industries (TSCHI) won many awards and overall first runner up in the recently concluded Provincial Jamborette of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (Leyte Council) at Abuyog, Leyte.
At first, the TSCHI scouters were made to believe that they won the overall championship but only to be told that they won the first runner up honors only.
They visited the office of Mayor Tiu and presented the different bannerettes and trophies they won. The Scouters was headed by their School Principal, Mr. Richard Laurente, and Scout Leader Mr. Yevgeny Los Banos.
The other group of students that visited the office of the Mayor at about the same time the TSCHI students were there at the Mayor’s Office was the group from Tanauan National High School (TNHS) which also brought honors to the town after winning several awards also in the Regional Students Press Conference held in Ormoc City.
The TNHS school journalists were very proud to present their trophies to the Mayor who in turn expressed his appreciation and commendation to the students and school administrators and faculty members.
The school has published their official school papers in waray dialect called Taran-awan and in English which they named as Tanauan Watch. The said publications already received numerous awards.
Mayor Tiu said that he is very happy and satisfied with the performance of the 4 public high schools in Tanauan which include Kiling National High School and the TNHS Annex at Cabuynan. All these high schools are now equipped with computers and other tools and gadgets to equip the students with skills and competency.
Meanwhile, the Tanauan I Central School Principal, Dr. Lilia Lauzon Tejome, also visited that afternoon the office of Mayor Tiu and presented several awards they won also at the Boy Scouts Jamborette in Abuyog, Leyte.
The town ’s chief executive vowed to continue supporting the students and schools in order to provide them the encouragement and inspiration to always excel in their activities. |
