Tanauan, Leyte --
In connection with the Moral and Spiritual Guidance
Week for Public Servants, the Local Government
of Tanuan, Leyte hosted a values formation seminar
on October 10 at the sala of the new municipal
hall.
Mayor Roque Tiu said that
the afternoon lecture of Reverend Fr. Ervy Lajara
centered on Christian Values Formation of the
family. Fr. Lajara emphasized to the Officials
and employees the need to properly mold their
children before reaching the age of 8 years
old.
"You should be considerate and honest to
your children," Fr. Lajara stressed. "The
communication line with your children should
always be open so that everything could be shared
to the parents."
Fr. Lajara also admonished the officials and
employees of the LGU of Tanauan to avoid having
any of the vices like womanizing, excessive
drinking and gambling as they all are evil and
root-cause of corruption and illegal practices.
The Officials and employees were also encouraged
to travel in order to widen their horizon and
render better service to their clients. Mayor
Tiu informed Fr. Lajara that the LGU is already
doing it and in fact, already traveled to Bohol
and Cebu, followed with a travel to Davao and
lately to Metro Manila and Baguio City.
The travels have indeed improved the services
of the LGU to their clients as it received numerous
awards already like the Best LGU awarded by
the Civil Service Commission and the Most Business
Friendly Municipality in the Country given by
the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry,
Inc. (PCCI). Once again this year, LGU Tanauan
was nominated for the 4th time the Most Business
Friendly award.
After the Forum, Mayor Tiu and Fr. Lajara agreed
that the activity will be done once a month
with the topics and speakers to be arranged
by Fr. Lajara, an idea which was received with
enthusiasm by the Officials and employees of
Tanauan.
Before ending his presentation, Fr. Lajara congratulated
Mayor Tiu and the Tanauananons for a very beautiful
and modern town hall and also for initiating
a Christian Values Formation Forum. Fr. Lajara
said that he does not know of any LGU doing
this kind of activity.
