DADS HOLD SESSIONS
IN DIFFERENT
BARANGAYS |
Tanauan,
Leyte - The Sangguniang Bayan of Tanauan,
Leyte holds its weekly session every Monday at
the different barangays of the municipality. This
is being done in order to bring the government
nearer to the people, Vice Mayor Agapito Pagayanan
Jr., informed. This is also a fulfilment of an
election promise, he intimated. Conducting the
sessions in the different barangays will enable
the Sangguniang Bayan and the Municipal Mayor,
to listen to the concerns of the people in the
Barangay. Also, the people in the barangays are
also educated on the ongoings in the Sangguniang
Bayan. |

A
very important part of the sessions in the barangays,
is the Citizen's Time, Vice Mayor Payanan said.
During this part, Mayor Roque Tiu joins the Sangguniang
Bayan because most of the concerns could only
be answered by the Executive department.
The barangay people are satisfied because their
concerns are immediately attended to by the municipal
government.
Last week, the Sangguniang Bayan held the 46th
regular session at Barangay Cabungaan, one of
the smallest barangays in Tanauan Before that,
the session was held at Barangay Mohon. |

At
Barangay Cabongaan, there was a request for certified
seeds and irrigation pumps. The Mayor told the
requesting parties to go to the Municipal Agriculture
Office as there are stocks of certified seeds
there. For the request for irrigation pumps, request
forms at the Municipal Agriculture Office must
be filled up so that the local government will
act on it by purchasing the same from the National
Irrigation Administration office for loan to the
requesting parties. Vice Mayor Pagayanan said
that so far, the Sangguniang Bayan of Tanauan
has already held session in more than half of
the 54 barangays in the municipality. |
The people in the barangays
where the Session have been held appreciated
the holding of the session in their barangays.
Many requests from the barangays not yet reached,
for the Sangguniang Bayan to hold the session
in their respective barangays have been received.
Among the current proposed municipal ordinance
being looked into by the Sangguniang Bayan is
an ordinance prescribing for the mandatory posting
of notice and information regarding child protection
on establishments whose operations of business
is prejudicial to the development and welfare
of minors.
Another proposed municipal ordinance is an ordinance
penalizing fraudulent acts defined under Republic
Act No. 7394, otherwise known as Consumers Act
of the Philippines providing for Timbangan ng
Bayan in all market places in the municipality
of Tanauan and penalties for violation thereof.
Another important proposed
municipal ordinance is an ordinance regulating
the use of plastic bags as packing or bagging
materials and to institutionalize the use of biodegradable
containers within the territorial jurisdiction
of the municipality of Tanauan, Leyte. (PIA 8) |
