Aside from Tanauan, the other finalists in
the E-LGU- municipality category are the website
of Cabatuan, Isabela, www.cabatuan-isabela.gov.ph;
Calamba, Misamis Occidental www.calambamisocc.gov.ph;
Lugait, Misamis Oriental, www.lugait.com; and
San Rafael, Bulacan, www.sanrafael.gov.ph.
Just recently, the website of Tanauan, Leyte
was cited as the Best Municipal Website in Region
8.
Mayor Tiu said that he is sending a local government
staff who is in charge of the Tanauan website
to the Philippine Web Awards ceremony. This
is in recognition of the staff's hard work and
initiatives, Mayor Tiu said.
Upon verification, PIA happily learned that
there are the Local Government Units in Eastern
Visayas which are finalists in the various categories
of the Philippine Web Awards competition.
The official website of the City of Ormoc in
the province of Leyte, www.ormoc.gov.ph is one
of the five finalists in the E-LGUs-City category
while the official website of the province of
Northern Samar, www.nortesansamar.gov.ph is
one of the three finalists in the E-LGUs-province
category.
After several months of screening, just a handful
of entries remain vying to get the top plum
in this year's edition of the Philippine Web
Awards, the organizers wrote as they enumerated
the finalists in the various categories in the
competition.
The website of the Philippine Information Agency
in Eastern Visayas, http://rdc.evis.net.ph/lineagencies/pia,
was a semi-finalist in the government agency
category but the category was scratched out
as there were only two contestants, the other
being the official website of NEDA Central Office.
The other categories include arts and portfolio;
blogs; celebrities and personalities; community
and portal; corporate; e-commerce; e-LGUs-City;
e-LGUs-Municipality; e-LGUs-province; lifestyle
and leisure; news and media; organizations;
personal; school and SMEs.
The Philippine Web Awards (PWA) is an award-giving
body that annually recognizes the best Filipino-created
Web sites and honors the individuals and teams
behind them. The PWA continues to attract participants
here and abroad and gain support from major
industry players.
Over the years, the PWA remains true to its
mission of honoring outstanding Filipino talent
in the field of Web design and development.
The finalists and winners not only garner appreciation
from their peers, but also career growth and
bigger business opportunities.
First launched in 1998 as the Philippine Webby
Award, it was renamed as the Philippine Web Awards
in 1999. The Best LGUs Award was made possible
through the tie up with the National Computer
Center and the Commission on Information and Communications
