Dubbed as "Kahimo-Kahimu Han Tanauan", the week-long activity is a great opportunity for Tanauan to showcase its local products, local talents and cultural heritage at the Robinsons Activity Area, from 10:00 o'clock to 8:00 o'clock in the evening, Mayor Roque Tiu said.
The Opening Ceremonies is scheduled at 5:00 o'clock in the afternoon on September 14, with this year's champion in the Pintados-Kasadyaan Festival of Festivals, the Tanauan National High School Pasaka Group, kicking off the activity to attract the attention of the mall shoppers.
This will be followed by the opening of the Kahimo – Kahimu Han Tanauan trade exhibit by Mayor Roque Tiu and Leyte Governor Carlos Jericho L. Petilla together with other important personalities of Eastern Visayas Region who are expected to grace the occasion.
Mayor Tiu explained that kahimo is the waray term for "products" while kahimu in the local dialect means "face" thus, the exhibit title signifies the goal of Tanauan for its products and its culture which makes the face of Tanauan unique, will be known by the people.
The trade exhibit will feature various handicrafts made from materials indigenous to Tanauan such as bags made out of bariis, a grass variety found in the interior villages of the municipality.
It will also feature the Tanauan Ceramics industry as Tanauan has the best clay in the Region; the bamboo craft and furniture industry; soft brooms, among others.
Unfortunately, the town's well-known delicacies, the best lechon, sarungsong, ampaw, coconut candies, among others, are not allowed to be exhibited in the mall because of company policies.
Mayor Tiu added that this activity is also the town's fitting contribution to the celebration of the Regional Economic Development Week which is also celebrated this month of September.
