PGMA FULFILLS AMBULANCE PLEDGE TO
RP’S MOST BUSINESS FRIENDLY LGU

President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo never forgets her promises, Mayor Roque Tiu of Tanauan, Leyte enthused.

Mayor Tiu looked happy, after receiving from Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office General Manager Rosario Uriarte the documents and the keys of the ambulance which he requested from President Arroyo during the awarding for the Municipality of Tanauan, Leyte as the Most Business Friendly Municipality.

With the so many things in her mind during that occasion, Mayor Tiu said, the President does not only remember names, she also remembers events and most especially, she remembers her promises.

Mayor Tiu said he was surprised when the PCSO called him telling him to go to Manila to sign the documents of the new ambulance from President Arroyo. Presidential Assistant for Eastern Visayas, Secretary Victor Domingo also called to confirm the information.

Immediately, Mayor Tiu and his two staff went to Manila to claim the ambulance. The three flew to Manila in the morning and in the afternoon, Mayor Tiu went home to Tanauan by air while the two staff drove the ambulance from Manila all the way to Tanauan.

By noon, the following day, the ambulance and the two staff were already in Tanauan.

The new ambulance for the municipality will be a great help to the people in the 54 barangays of Tanauan, Leyte especially the sick who must be brought to the hospitals in Tacloban. The need for very sick people to be transported through an ambulance to Tacloban is very frequent especially during the wee hours of the morning, Mayor Tiu said.

Mayor Tiu added that the new ambulance is a very apt complement of the town’s Municipal Health Clinic which is now under being renovated under the Sentrong Sigla of the Department of Health.

Mayor Tiu called on his constituents to continue having faith in the national leadership so that the economic growth which the country is now experiencing for the first time, will be sustained and so that the fruits of this economic growth will flow down to the people. The ambulance is already a fruit of that growth, Mayor Tiu said.
